Fall Photo Shoot

Updated: Sep 29, 2021

I was part of the Stony Brook Photography Club and almost every alternate week they held photo walks around campus.

In this post I am sharing few pictures from one such photo walks. This was my first time shooting with strangers ( first time I met Deanna) and also a first shooting with someone who is comfortable in front of the camera and knows how to pose.

Shooting with Deanna was great fun. It was the first time I realized how easy it is to shoot with models / people who are comfortable being in front of the camera. She already knew how to pose, how to move around and all the flattering angles that work. I am still learning how to guide and instruct people with posing and movements, so she understood quickly which was helpful. She knew it better than I did, so it was easy for me to just ask her to stand at a particular place and shoot.

Don't get me wrong I still love shooting with friends and family, it is challenging but still fun. To be able to get camera shy people in front of the camera and taking their pictures is a challenge on its own, a good challenge, especially when they are hesitant and shy. .This was a good learning experience where I realized how important it is to be able to guide and ensure that the person you are shooting is comfortable and relaxed. Here are some of those pictures.

(This is one of my favorite pictures because of the layered shadows.)
